As part of the Imperium experience we have created authentic battlegrounds with military props and a fleet of army vehicles used in game and to ferry players around the 80 acre site. These include a 5-ton Unimog, 15-ton Saurer Infantry Fighting Vehicle and Armoured Personnel Carrier, Pinzgauers, G-Wagon and 4x4s.

They take an active role in the day and some have mounted MG42 machine guns for players to use! All vehicles are operated on game days by our professionally trained staff drivers and commanders for the safety of our players.

SCHÜTZENPANZER A1 4K 4FA-G2

The IMPERIUM Saurer 4K 4FA is an Austrian Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle born in the Cold War – the flagship tank of Imperium Battlegrounds. With her 20mm Oerlikon Autocannon, V6 turbo diesel engine and ZF automatic gearbox combined with her low profile, she is 15 tons of fast and formidable!

SAURER APC SPZA1 4K 3FA

The IMPERIUM Saurer 4K 3FA Armoured Personnel Carrier is an Austrian armoured infantry support vehicle. She is the fastest tank at Imperium, as without the turret of her armed sister she is built for speed and more manoeuvrable. Featuring a purring straight 6 turbo diesel engine and ZF automatic gearbox, her lighter weight, combined with her low profile makes the APC a 12.5 ton sports tank!

UNIMOG U1300L

The IMPERIUM Unimog is the 5-ton warhorse of the Imperium Battleground fleet! First built for the Bundeswehr, the MOG is a multi-purpose all-wheel drive high mobility load carrier capable of traversing any terrain. Produced by Daimler AG and sold under the Mercedes-Benz brand, the vehicle’s coil sprung suspension and high ground clearance makes them ideal for off-road transport. The Unimog U1300L has seen widespread military service for countries including Austria, Australia, France, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Turkey.

PINZGAUER 710

The Pinzgauer 710 high-mobility all-terrain 4WD military utility vehicle is regarded as one of the most capable all-terrain vehicles ever made. Originally developed in the late 1960s and manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria, the ‘Pinz’ has an advanced tubular chassis design which enables its high mobility. It also has portal axles like the Unimog for extra ground clearance. The vehicle has seen extensive military use around the world including with the British, Austrian and Swiss armed forces.

MERCEDES-BENZ 250 GD WOLF

IMPERIUM’s WOLF G-Wagon is an iconic and rugged military 4×4 straight from service with the German Army. With a 2.5 diesel 5-cylinder engine, low ratio gearbox and mechanical front and rear locking differentials she is the ultimate off-road vehicle, able to traverse almost any terrain and can keep pace with our tanks, Unimogs and Pinzgauers! The G-Wagon gets its name from Geländewagen, German for ‘cross-country vehicle’, the German Bundeswehr nicknamed it WOLF, as it could go anywhere, was fast and could insert troops in almost any terrain.

HILUX TECHNICAL

The Toyota Hilux technical is an improvised fighting platform, a civilian non-combat vehicle which offers speed and mobility for light troop deployment. Originated in Somalia during the Civil War, a ‘technical’ includes any vehicle carrying armed men but are usually pickups fitted with a heavy machine gun or support weapon. As a soft-skinned vehicle they offer no protection to crew and passengers, but their major asset is the ability to quickly strike from unexpected directions with a high rate of automatic fire.

WESTLAND LYNX HELICOPTER (non-operational)

The crashed Westland Lynx is a British multi-purpose twin-engine military helicopter originally intended as a utility craft for both civil and marine usage. Military interest led to the development of both battlefield and naval variants, entering into operational use in 1977 and later adopted by the armed forces of over a dozen nations. The Lynx can perform a wide variety of mission types, including anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, vessel replenishment, search and rescue, airborne reconnaissance, casualty evacuation and troop transport.

SARACEN FV603 APC (non-operational)

The Saracen is a six-wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier built by Alvis and was the standard APC of the British Army throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. Besides the driver and commander, a squad of eight soldiers could be carried. A small turret on the roof can mount a Browning .30 machine gun, and a .303 Bren gun could be mounted on an anti-aircraft ring-mount accessed through a roof hatch. There were ports on the sides through which troops could fire.

SAXON AT105 APC (non-operational)

The Saxon is an 4×4 Armoured Personnel Carrier developed by GKN Defence for the British Army of the Rhine in 1983. Based on a revised Bedford M Series truck chassis, as a lightly armoured wheeled vehicle, it is much faster – especially on roads – and easier to maintain than a tracked vehicle. It is armoured against small-arms fire and armour piercing rounds, with a V-shaped under-chassis plate to deflect mine detonations. The commander has a fixed cupola over which a 7.62 mm machine gun can be mounted. British Army Saxons were deployed to Bahrain, Brunei, Bosnia, Malaysia, Oman, Iraq and Afghanistan.

RAPIER SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE SYSTEM (non-operational)

The Rapier is a Surface-to-Air Missile developed for the British Army and Royal Air Force, entering into service in the 1970’s. It remains the UK’s primary air-defence weapon protecting against unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. Using a manual optical guidance system over a radio link, the Rapier offers accuracy and manoeuvrability for low altitude attack. The system is trailer-mounted and can be towed behind vehicles and APCs. It has seen action in the Falklands, Iran-Iraq and Gulf Wars.

HESCO MIL UNITS

HESCO earth-filled MIL units have been used around the world to create barriers for Forward Operating Base perimeter protection and provide high level security control. They have been used by military organisations including the Ministry of Defence, NATO and US Army in every major conflict since the first Gulf war in 1991, saving countless lives and mission critical assets. Hesco was developed by Jimi Heselden, a British entrepreneur and ex-coal miner, who founded HESCO Bastion Ltd. in 1989.

MG 42 GENERAL-PURPOSE MACHINE GUN

The MG 42 (Maschinengewehr 42) is a general-purpose machine gun designed in Nazi Germany – still considered the best heavy machine gun of the Second World War. Entering production in 1942, hence the name, the MG 42 was used extensively by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS.
Designed to be low-cost, easy to build and operate, the MG 42 proved to be highly reliable. It was most notable for its very high cyclic rate for a gun using full power service cartridges, which enabled it to provide incredible suppressive fire. The MG 42 had a unique sound which led to it being nicknamed ‘Hitler’s buzzsaw’. German military forces of the Bundeswehr now use the MG 3, a squad support weapon and a vehicle-mounted machine gun inspired by the MG 42.
